About the Artist

Lorraine Elizabeth Ewan was born in Perth, Scotland on the thirteenth of September 1985.  She moved with her parents and twin sister to the USA when she was three.   She feels her art has been greatly inspired by her experiences visiting her relatives in Scotland for the summers while growing up.  Lorraine’s grandfather owned a pig farm in Perthshire, where her mother had grown up.  There were numerous animals on this farm from pigs, to sheep, goats, chickens, feral cats, and farm dogs. The connection she feels to animals and nature is reflected in her art.
Lorraine graduated from Montclair State University in August 2007 with a BA in Fine Art, concentrating in painting.  Oil on canvas is her preferred medium of expression for her artwork, but she also enjoys working with a variety of other artistic mediums: charcoal, watercolor, pastels, 3-Dimentionally with clay and other mediums.

Leading a very active lifestyle, Lorraine inherited her mother’s love for horses and has been horse riding since she was seven.  She continues to ride in Dressage and work with horses.  She has also been practicing yoga for ten years.  A certified yoga instructor, Lorraine practices yoga every morning to start her day.  She loves traveling to new places and reading.  Always curious about the way people lived their lives in different places and times; she enjoys learning about history and different cultures. She feels her life experiences have had a great influence on her art. Lorraine moved back to Scotland with her twin sister in July 2008.
